Cabinet repair
Fix the cabinet part that is making the room harder to use.
A broken drawer, loose door, worn slide, damaged shelf, or sink-base bottom does not always mean the whole cabinet run needs replacement. I start by looking at the failed part and the structure around it.
What I can inspect
Start with the part that moves, sags, rubs, or has been damaged.
Drawers and drawer fronts
Broken boxes, loose fronts, worn slides, poor alignment, and movement problems can be evaluated.
Doors and hinges
Loose, sagging, rubbing, or damaged doors may need adjustment, hardware replacement, or repair.
Shelves and cabinet bottoms
Sagging shelves and damaged lower panels, including sink-base areas, can be reviewed from photos.
Trim and isolated cabinet parts
Toe kicks, fillers, end panels, and other localized damage may be repairable without replacing everything nearby.
Before I quote the repair
I need to see the damage and what still supports it.
A close-up shows the failed part. A wider photo shows how it connects to the rest of the cabinet.
- Where the damage starts and how far it extends
- Whether the surrounding cabinet material is still sound
- How the door, drawer, shelf, or hardware was originally installed
- Whether replacement hinges or slides are compatible
- How closely a repaired part can match the existing color and finish
Repair or replace the part?
The answer depends on what remains solid.
If the damaged component can be repaired cleanly and safely, I’ll explain that option. If the material around it has failed, replacing the part or cabinet section may make more sense.
Repair
Useful when the problem is contained and the existing material can still hold fasteners and daily use.
Hardware change
Useful when a compatible hinge or slide can correct movement without rebuilding the cabinet part.
Part replacement
Useful when a drawer box, shelf, bottom panel, door, or another component is too damaged to restore.
